A Message From Jafar Musa
Hello everyone! I hope that this message meets you well! My name is Jafar Musa and I am from Nigeria. I am one of A2S (Access to Success) scholarship beneficiaries studying in the United States. The mission of A2S is to provide sustainable programs that generate positive change for Nigerian children and their communities. In 2017, I graduated with my Associate Degree in Business Administration from Garrett Community College in Maryland. Currently, I am a junior, student-athlete, majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in management at Concord University in West Virginia. All my dreams would not be realistic if not for A2S, its generous donors, volunteers, and sponsors. Thank you for all that you have done and continue to do.
I was a participant in the free annual A2S summer camps in Nigeria from 2011-2013 before A2S gave me an opportunity to continue my studies in the U.S. In 2016, I had the opportunity to return to Nigeria with A2S on a mission trip. It was the most exciting and meaningful experience going home, except that this time, I was working and serving kids at the free annual A2S basketball and empowerment camps and the after-school academy. It was remarkable to see the amount of effort put in to planning and executing the missions during the trip and I am glad that I was to be part of it. That trip brought a new-found appreciation for A2S as not only was I working toward my dream, but I was also able to look at children who are benefiting from A2S programs in Nigeria in the eyes and encourage them as they pursue their dreams.
The vision of A2S is that each child/person in Nigeria finds a dignified path to a successful life and is empowered to live our God’s plan for a future filled with hope. Volunteering by serving in the upcoming A2S 2018 mission trip is one way I can give back to a community that raised me to always stay hopeful and committed to my dreams. This mission trip also presents me with a unique opportunity; to connect my Nigerian and American families in the best way possible, which is through service to others.
During my trip to Nigeria, I will be renewing my student visa. However, serving on this mission trip and spending time with my family will be the most meaningful part of the trip. My presence as alumni of these A2S programs in Nigeria and story about my journey in the U.S can help share smiles, inspire hope, and empower dreams of children who struggle through each day like I used to.
To join the A2S mission trip, I hope you will consider helping me reach my personal goal to raise $3,500. Outside of cost associated with this trip, $3500 can send 140 Nigerian youth to a free summer basketball and empowerment camp or vacation Bible school. As I prepare for this trip, I pray and hope that you will consider helping financially or through your prayers. I am very excited to share my experience with you through stories and pictures during and after my trip.
Thanks in advance and God bless,
